Mental Health and Wellness

What can we do when our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors arenโ€™t helpful? How did our minds go awry? And how can therapy help?
I love how primary and secondary schools have begun teaching mental health skills with Social Emotional learning. To me, it deserves to be a core subject as central to our lives as math and reading. Applying knowledge to real world contexts is a struggle in any subject. But I personally feel applying mental health to myself is the hardest. Therapy - an outside expert reflecting back to us with compassion, and without our distortion, can be transformational. I hope you'll seek help when you need it, find self-compassion for yourself, and consider mental health careers connecting with others who struggle like us.
Jules of Euphoria in therapy, lacking self-compassion, "... but also, like, what I'm sayting is true. Like, without the self-criticism, I'd be lost" "or free"

The story of Wing Biddlebaum is a story of hands. Their restless activity, like unto the beating of the wings of an imprisoned bird, had given him his name. ... The slender expressive fingers, forever active, forever striving to conceal themselves in his pockets or behind his back, came forth and became the piston rods of his machinery of expression.
Sherwood Anderson, Winesburg, Ohio (Hands)
